It’s a Friday night, we both have the night off. YAY! Finally a night off together. Plans to go out on the town just don’t sound that fun. Nowadays what do couples really do when they date? Netflix and chill?
I am going to say yes! After 13 years our nights off together were consisting of just good ol Netflix and chill nights. Not to say that that was boring because well Netflix has some REALLY great shows.
But on the contrary, actually going out of the house and having a normal conversation over dinner would be SO SO nice.! Fun and unique date nights have never been easier!
Dating Your Husband
Dating seems to be such an old word. I like to refer to it now as “going out”. Past Tense, before we became parents, we were a very fun couple! I think we can all say that right?
Fun couples that go places and do new things ALL. The . Time. Every weekend type couples. We were FUN! Once you have kids, get married, settle down, Life happens! We forget about what it was like to have fun.
Why do we do that? You know forget how to have fun? Doesn’t mean we are old or lazy (maybe you might be?) Just means that we get so wrapped up in time and are so comfortable in comfort zone we forget the love that we once shared.
So today I have compiled quite a big list of the things that my husband and like to do on our date night. Because… dating your spouse again is so worth it!

17 Fun and Unique Ideas For Dating Your Spouse
#1. Movie Night
Movie night can be a number of things. Actually it doesn’t have to be Netflix movie night at all! The funnest part about this is to be creative. One night we had an outdoor movie night.
Setting up a screen projector in the backyard or patio with pillows and blankets is so relaxing, and you get out of the house. Compliment that with Wine and Popcorn. Romantic Date night Success! This is the projector screen that we used!

#2. Double Date
You probably haven’t heard about a double date since well, college. We love going on double dates! Not only is it fun but we get the chance to catch up with old friends and go do something fun.
Dinner and a motorcycle ride are always right up our ally in the Summer time. When winter comes we opt for dinner and drinks at a pub. Easy night out but with a few friends.
#3 Fishing in the Dark
Summer is out favorite time to get out and so stuff! My husband love to fish and so often times we will grab our poles and head out to see if we can get some night fish!
We also hunt for crawdads which makes it even more fun. Those little suckers are very tasty to eat as well! The best part is you don’t have to spend much money.
Grab your poles and head down to the fishing hole! Pack a picnic lunch and some drinks, makes for a fun date night!
#4. Bike Riding
Bike riding on the nature trail is indeed one of my favorite things to do. There are so many trails and places to go that it never gets boring! Take a new trail with the bikes and go explore! Biking is a super cheap date night idea.
Bike riding is so fun and healthy for you also that you are sure to work up an appetite. Even then you’ll probably want dinner afterward. Two treats in one!
#5 Hiking
We are avid outdoor people so hiking is one of our favorite things to do in the summer time. Traveling to new areas to see and taking short day trips are romantic and fun.
In Colorado, we have the Sangre De Cristo Mountains, Gunnison, and Salida just South West of us. And on the other side, we have Pikes Peak Mountains to the Northwest. We are surrounded by beauty! Some of them even have hidden waterfalls! Take in the beauty of nature with each other. Even a day trip is a fun date with your spouse!
#6. Stroll the City Side Walks
During the winter months downtown can get pretty cold. But occassionaly we traipse around downtown in the winter around christmas time. Things are lit up with lights and all the pubs and shops are open to stop in.
In the city we live in, there is an area downtown that you can go walk around a river. During the summer they have bands that play down there and all of the outdoor seating is “where its at”. We love going downtown and just walk along the river. It makes for a relaxing evening.
#7. Bowling
When we were in our younger days, we bowled A LOT! Bowling is so much fun. Especially if you go with couples. The competition gets real crazy around these parts!
Find a bowling alley that does Neon bowling, or 80’s night! Sometimes we even dress up like 80’s people. Not your thing? That’s OK. A night out with friends throwing some gutter balls is SUPER FUN!
#8. Golfing
Have you ever been to Top Golf? How about Drive Shack? Nope neither had I , until we went on vacation and discovered it. Now this is something that my husband could do for hours!
Such as guys sport right? Not! I actually learned how to hit the ball and was pretty good at it! They also offer different kinds of games and just regular virtual golf. Drinks and food were also available. Talk about a fun time!! We do this fun Date night occasionally with our friends.

#9. Escape Rooms
Escape rooms are sort of a new thing, or at least I am pretty sure they are. They are super fun with a group of people or if you and your hubby just want to get out of the house. This is also a fun date night for couples!
My recommendation for escape rooms is to research the place before going. Mainly because some of them are well, not fun. In other words, you get out of the room before you can say the word PEACHES!! Denver hosts some really great escape rooms during Halloween time.
This is by far the best time to go to an escape room in Denver because they offer haunted houses with it! Check out your local escape room deals at Groupon also offering discounts!
#10. Four Wheeling
Four wheeling is something even our family loves to do. Four wheeling in the mountains or even in the plains is an all day adventure. Its so much fun to find new places to explore.
Recently we went to Gunnison as a family and had so much fun exploring the mountains. This can be fun if you and your hubby just want to get away for the day also. One of our favorite past times.
#11. Couples Massage
Oh the feeling you get when you have a massage. The best part is you feel so much better the next day. Many massage parlors (is that what they are called) offer couples massages.
As if getting a relaxing massage together isn’t romantic enough. They often offer complimentary Champaign or wine! My fave. Top it off with an evening dinner at a steak house and its a 5-star treat and unique date idea!
#12. Wine Tasting
If you have never done any type of wine tasting at winery, you are missing out! Wine tasting is fun on many levels. You get to experience something new at each station and if you are lucky they offer meals at the end.
Living in an area with multiple wineries is a must experience date! It is a fun and creative date night idea, just make sure you have a ride lined out when you leave! Check your local Groupon listings for winery coupons and discounts!

#13. Evening Kayaking
I chose to put kayaking on this list because evening kayaking is so relaxing. If you live next to a lake or calm body of water kayaking can be such a stress reliever.
When my husband and I go kayaking in the evening, we like to watch the sunset. We will bring a picnic lunch also so we don’t get hungry. Sometimes we will even sit under the stars and just… BE Present. Such a Romantic Date night idea that can be adventurous.
#14. Lay Under the Stars
We are lucky to live in a remote area where you can see stars for miles. Have you ever just laid out under the stars and thought “WOW, we are so small.” What a huge planet we live in.
As a date night, we can just hang on our porch and gaze at the night sky. If you live in a bigger city, go out of town a few miles and sit on the hood of the car. This is my favorite because stars can bring up so many different types of conversations.

#15. Go to a Restaraunt
Sounds plain right? It doesn’t have to be. I bet if you drove around your town you would find a restaurant that you haven’t been to. Often times we drive an extra 30 minutes for our dinner date.
There are tons of options in other little cities around us and just experiencing different types of food, is a fun date idea in itself!
#16. Dinner/Movie Indoors
When you are talking about dinner at home… I mean with the kids at the babysitter. I love just chillin at home but if I want to spend a little quality time with my spouse, I opt for a babysitter.
Usually, it’s my husband that cooks, and I pick the movie (aka Netflix). But just being able to be present with each other and not have all the chaos going on can be exhilarating! Try it out, and grab a nice bottle of wine while you are at it. Oh, don’t forget the candles!
#17 Drinks Next to the Fire
I love doing this one! It can be so romantic if that’s what you are going for. If the kids are in bed, grab a drink and go light the patio fire. Just hanging out by the fire on a fall night is some thing I could definitely get used to.
Heck its even fun when the kids are awake! We grab the marshmallows and some graham crackers and get to roasting!
Finding Quiet Space
You see there are many things you can do with your spouse! And some you can even do with the kiddo’s. Either way making it a point to find a place where it is quiet and you can focus on eachother is something we strive to do regularly.
We all have stressors in our day to day lives and being with the one you love doesn’t have to always be so serious! Go out, live a little. And sometimes it’s ok to take the kids along. It makes your relationship just that much stronger.
