Ugh! Fad Diets… do they work? I know I am probably not the only one that has tried numerous diets and to no avail, end up stopping halfway through because I was soooo Hungry!! AKA not getting enough nutrients.
I’m sure you all know these said diets, as do I. Such as Keto, Paleo, the Carnivore diet, just veggies, only protein, Atkins. And the list goes on (sigh).
You may be asking yourself…What the Heck!! Why is it not working? What does my body need to help me lose weight? Dieting, simply put is a temporary fix to an ongoing problem.
For instance, having tried the majority of the above with little success you simply resort back to your old eating habits after a time period. So what really works?

Restricting Calories for Weightloss
Many people follow diets that don’t allow them to eat, this is called something along the lines of Anorexia or what can lead to this eating disorder. Many teens and young adults think that by restricting calories, it will allow them to lose the weight more effectively.
What they don’t understand is that by not eating you are putting more stress on your body. When you don’t eat your put your body into what doctors like to call a metabolism breakdown.
This means that your body starts to preserve fat and use the glycogen stores to preserve the muscles. When your body runs out of these glycogen stores, because it is starving, your body loses muscle mass and decreases water weight which can put your body in dehydration. EEEK! That is kind of scary!
Is Calorie Restriction Safe?
Scientists have linked starvation diets to the death of cells and in this case, starvation may be similar to the effects of cell-death treatments such as chemotherapy where the mitochondrial pathway is activated.
In other words, the Starvation diet is not the answer and will likely do more damage to your body than eating a healthy balanced diet full of rich antioxidants.
A Healthy Way to Calorie Restricting
Restricting calories can be very beneficial for many reasons. It can help you lose weight and maintain your weight loss goals. On the contrary, consuming too many calories can do the opposite and make you gain weight.
Many people opt for Calorie counting. When done the healthy way Reducing calorie intake can assist dramatically with weight loss.

Do Supplements really work?
I will be the first to tell you that I have tried many many supplements. From fat burners to stimulants and beyond. To be honest I never really noticed a difference in anything but my nerves being out of wack!
I have thumbed through the lists of “AMAZING” supplements for weight loss, or claim to be, and I end up only to feel well, ripped off. There are many products out there that say they help burn fat, reduce appetite, etc. But do they really work?
Taking to many supplements may be beneficial for a short time, but overtaking these supplements can cause detrimental effects in the long run. Many of these supplements can have hidden ingredients in them.
Most recently I have found a brand that is amazing and has helped clear my skin, set my mood, and give me plenty of energy. These supplements are also backed by the FDA and they are safe for consumption and all-natural. You can read more and check them out here.

A Safer way to Pick Diet Supplements

- Not all supplements are bad. In fact, I take a few myself. Such as collagen for skin, joints, and nails, and biotin also for skin and nails. Here are the ones that I use you can check out the Biotin here! My favorite Collagen you can get right here! These supplements are amazing for joint health and hair and skin nutrition.
- 2. As you get older things don’t work like they used to, so adding healthy supplements can be beneficial. It can also aid in better workouts by allowing your joints to move better. In other words, be diligent when picking a supplement.
- 3. As women get older our bodies require different needs. Women lack collagen and biotin as our hair thins, joints weaken, etc. We also tend to lack calcium and we are super hard on our joints so adding a supplement that can assist with those nutrition deficiencies.
- 4. As we already know, supplements come in a variety of things. Frome Capsules, to powders to tablets, and so on. The best more informative way of choosing a supplement is to do research on the drug itself.
**** Before picking any product read the back label ingredients. Look for things that say all-natural or FDA approved. If you do this when you are choosing supplements, then you are more likely to get the supplement that you paid for rather than a knock off or something that doesn’t work for you.
Dieting Tips
Falling for diets with restricted food groups only minimizes your nutrients and makes it harder to keep the weight off after you’ve followed your 30 or 60-day plan.
For instance, Keto has benefits for those with diabetes and allows people to stay in ketosis when on the diet. This is awesome, right? Keto Worked for me and helped me lose the weight I needed to.
Healthy eating is only as hard as you make it. In the beginning of your “challenge” or change, as I like to call it, it is difficult. You may experience some side effects because your body was used to one way and is now changing with what you put inside of it.
But you are strong! You deserve to be healthy and have your dreams come true!
There are so many options out there to help you be successful on your journey to a healthier you. With the above only just a few options, keep in mind that not all diets work for every body type. Trying various diets and failing is part of the game.
Knowing what your body needs is different. It means you know what works for you and what doesn’t. But sometimes we may need a little help and that is ok! Trust me I am the first one to raise my hand for help!
In short, having tried most of the diets listed above and have not been successful, I finally figured out that the success in dieting or healthy eating is all about what you put in your body.
Not only did my body change but my mind changed, and my lifestyle changed. We started eating healthier meals, not eating out all the time and my kids even liked some of the things I made. WINNING!
Be sure to do your homework and research all of your supplements and diet plans before taking the plunge. And be mindful that your body will thank you for all the healthy options that you choose! You go girl!
